Marabú charcoal and tropical woods

Marabu Charcoal is traditionally produced from the branches and trunks of the wild and invasive Marabu bush similar to mimosa.

Marabu (Dichrostachys cinerea) imported from Africa to the Caribbean in the 19th century is a plant that develops in the form of large bushes up to 10 m high. During the crisis of the 1990s in Cuba, many agricultural areas were fallow, "el Marabú" spread over vast distances. You will find Dichrostachys cinerea in the Global Invasive Species Datadase of the ISSG (Invasive Species Specialist Group), where all plants that must be killed are listed.

For the reasons below, it is very suitable for the JOSPER charcoal oven, barbecues and open grills, parillas, etc.

Marabu wood charcoal (100% natural):

  • Embers developing high heat
  • No crackling phenomenon
  • Burns without smoke
  • Gives off a pleasant aroma
  • 10.5 kg bag of charcoal / 27.5 liters
  • Particle size 80-160mm
  • 8000 kCal/Kg
  • Humidity 4%
  • Volatile solids 18%

Josper selects its species and regularly checks the quality of its charcoals, packaged individually or in pallets of 30 or 52 bags and packaged in cardboard or 10kg bags.

These coals, de-ashed and calibrated in large pieces, provide and maintain a powerful spark-free ember for hours.
