The Charcoal Marabu is traditionally produced from the branches and trunks of the bush, Marabu wild and rampant similar to the mimosa.
The Marabu (Dichrostachys cinerea) which had been imported from Africa into the Caribbean in the 19th century is a plant that grows in the form of large bushes with a height up to 10 m high. During the crisis of the 1990s in Cuba, many agricultural areas were fallow, "el Marabú" is spreading over the vast distance. You will find the Dichrostachys cinerea in the Global Invasive Species Datadase of the ISSG (Invasive Species Specialist Group), where all the plants that need to be slaughtered, are listed.
