The thermocouple is a safety device that automatically cut the gas at the tap level if the flame on the gas ramps is unfortunately off.
At the end of this thermocouple, a calibrated probe, transmits an electrical signal to an electrode incorporated into the gas valve.

Old device for gas cooking appliances.
The thermocouple consists of 3 parts.
- 1 metal wire (nickel alloy + chromium - type k) inserted into 1 tube (nickel + aluminum alloy (5%) + silicon - type k).
Both ends: (tip and terminal) welded as shown us.
- 1 copper tube serving as a channel at the first 2 parts.
When the tip is heated, the heat energy transformed into electrical energy creates a magnetic field.
The latter is used to open the gas valve valve. In the absence of flame, the spring relaxes and closes the arrival of gas.
Thermocouples are characterized by a letter that determines the operating temperature range.
